Tobacco shop Vs. Hemp Shop

Tobacco Shop Buds are the best!

My goodness, I know you guys saw that title and I assure you it’s insane and very sticky. Not as sticky as this bud.

I wanted to start on this one because it’s 11 in the morning and I am about to smoke another cone of some Lemon Tart. A hemp strain I picked up from Apotheca. I wanted to just roll with it on this one too while I was feeling it and feeling it I am. Phew, I decided to go the Ol’ Bob Marley route today and do the whole “two joints in the morning” and see where it takes me. So far, I can’t complain. I do know I don’t want to have a repeat of yesterday. The storm came in, floodgates open and not a shelter in site. It’s why I like to keep different types of strains on hand for occasions like that.

What happens when you can’t though? What happens when you don’t have a dispensary just up the road? This happens way more often than not. Most towns have so many tobacco shops which, like most businesses, stock the shelves with what sells. The problem is, these owners just grab whatever and roll with it. They’re not educated on any of the products or just simply don’t care. I’ve seen it time and time again. Just to be sure though, I went out and did some more digging. If you want to join me for an unpopular opinion then grab your rolling tray, some tobacco shop buds or whatever you’re smoking and let’s go.

Recently, I saw some beautiful purple buds at a shop where I get my coils for my vape. I know, I know, but I couldn’t resist.

You’re about to read it.

I’m a sucker for flower. I should have turned around right then and there but I couldn’t. I only got a little half gram-gram nug to try because, well, I’m a sucker for flower. It smelt amazing, looked amazing so odds are, this was going to be amazing. It had the best floral notes after the grind. My goodness, it was like walking through a field. Then I hit it. Terrible. It’s crazy how these two strains, dam near similar in appearance, can be so different. Of course, one was cheaper than the other – can you guess which one?

So why did I tell you this? Because we have a problem in this state. I can only imagine it probably extends everywhere across this great country but let’s focus here shall we. To most people, flower is flower or “I get what I can afford” and that’s that. It’s typically one of those two things. I’m sure there is other varying factors at play but those are your main buck-a-boos. This isn’t something we should be seeing in the cannabis industry. It’s definitely not something we should be promoting or even encouraging within the community. The fact that hemp or cannabis flower is readily available at your corner tobacco shop or gas station is ridiculous. I look at it as the greedy executives, the business owners, whoever it may be grabbing another thing that sales, that will make them money. From a business standpoint, this isn’t a bad idea. However, from a business standpoint it’s a terrible idea.

Timmy comes in to buy some flower at his local tobacco shop. It’s beautiful, smells amazing and dam does it make his wallet happy. The hit is a little harsh but that’s okay. So, Timmy goes back to his local shop, ask for that jar of “Trufffle Duffle Butter” and hit’s em with the ole “Please sir, can I have some more?” look and bam! Next thing you know, Timmy is in the hospital because that harshness turns out to be moldy product. COAs? What COA? The owner wasn’t getting them because he was just getting the flower through the back door from some vendor and just dumping into the empty jar. That shit wasn’t even what it was labeled as. So, from a business standpoint, sure you were saving money with that cheap, beautiful flower. However, you’re about to get slapped with a civil suit because Timmy almost died due to your negligence.

One could argue that Timmy, Martha, EVERYONE should do their due diligence, listen and make sure what they’re getting is good product. Let’s be realistic, we can’t. Which is why better laws need to exist, protections, consumer protections and, say it with me, HOME GROWS!!!!!! At the end of the day, only YOU know what YOU are getting. Until then people, please be weary of what you’re consuming. I say this because I too was a victim of shitty products a few years ago. I ended up in ICU, watched my parents consider my funeral while not wanting to give up on me. It was fucking terrible. I don’t want any of you to go through that. I went out searching for more holistic options for my epilepsy and it almost cost me my life.

Unpopular opinion incoming so strap in. Tobacco shops should only be for tobacco and tobacco products. Of course, you’ll always have your pipes, wraps etc. but even then, I have come across some counterfeit products here like RAW cones. So, you can never be too sure because some humans, greedy ones, will always do whatever to save a dollar and make a dollar. There is the rare exception that some shop owners just didn’t know. I have come across a few shops that are amazing, have great products. For the most part, you want to stick to dispensaries. These places employ knowledgeable people so you know what you’re getting and your questions will get answered. Now that I have either pissed you off or had you say aloud “He’s right you know” whatever it may be, I hope we’re still cool because I still love ya. In fact, this hit is for you, my friend. I hope you all have a safe week and awesome holiday weekend. Stay lazed and remember to relax, it’s natural bud!
